Purpose—redesign pathways

To improve the pathways chapter from the way of being - master.docm

This may entail some improvement the other chapters of the master document

Criteria

1.    Simplicity of structure and language,

2.    Rationality—particularly to derive the pathways from the real metaphysics, experience, and what is useful in traditional systems, and

3.    To make transparent the process of shared discovery and realization with balance of cognition, emotion (especially pleasure and pain), choice, and action.

The design

Occasion

Idea

Realization of the ultimate (or ultimates).

Refinement and functional specification

State detailed aim and perhaps dedication.

From the metaphysics (inclusive of our being), which shows aspects of the immediate and the ultimate, to find or develop and realize shared ways to the ultimate for, in, and from our world.

The way of being

Already existing pathways.

Tradition

World views and endeavors.

Elements

The existing solutions above
Flexibility and adaptability to a range of person types, cultures, and situations

The metaphysical framework covers a universal range.

Adaptability is built into the concept of aware / enlightened living / pathways.

It is especially built into the programs

The categorial elements

As both being and process, inclusivity and flexibility are built in here as well.

The four aspects

Is it four?

That the design should have being and becoming – being in the world and process toward the ultimate

Pathways (being in the world)—enlightened, aware

Programs (local, global)

Negotiation

Whereas many traditions ancient to today prescribe ideas and ways, these too are under negotiation.

That the path itself involves both ways (roughly prescribed) and negotiation.

Sharing and therapy
Leadership
Pleasure, pain, cognition, and attitude

The ‘full’ elements of mind are in the categories

Terms

Yoga, binding,  mind, minding

Dedication and affirmation

Pay attention to this in what items to include and their sequence

The system of human knowledge

Has a range of what’s in the world and provides activities that people can undertake for their own meaning—individually and collectively.

Design and planning—principles

Design and its levels

What is design?

To design is to formulate a plan or concept in response to a need, opportunity, occasion—of any kind but typically for an object, process, or system.

Designing may be

1.    Informal, small scale, ‘on the fly’, or

2.    Large scale—pertaining to an organization, systematic, and explicit.

3.    For (i) the entity being designed in levels of detail up to that of a build (ii) possibly the building (‘production’).

Design of design (meta)

Design of design.

Principle—reason and action.

A model of design

Problem—the need or occasion.

Solution approaches—reflection, creation, criticism, repetition.

Preliminary implementation—ideas and conceptual solutions, theoretical and experimental models, preliminary builds and reviews.

Final review.

Execution or build.

Preliminary design for the pathways chapter

Problem

Synthesis of principles and their polarity-v-continuum in pathways

Solution

Enlightened-pathways-and-quality v immediate-to-ultimate-process-or-programs

Improvement

Instrumental and immanent metaphysics (ontology, ethics, and meaning) in effective combination.

Elements and implications

Principles of metaphysics

Categorial system and dynamics

Similar to classical categories of being, these range from levels above the classical down to our world, and thus constitute a metaphysical hierarchy of categorial (‘kinds’) and explanatory (‘dynamics’) inclusivity.

System with dynamics

Universe

Real metaphysics—synthesis of ideal metaphysics (limitlessness) and pragmatic knowledge (experiential), which overlap.

Experiential nonbeing – being – becoming with axiology (especially ethics) and meaning (details: active and receptive experience, the concept and object sides, oneness of being v process; immanence-v-explicitness-of-principles-including-meta).

Dynamics—(structures that comply with) logic.

Form (intermediate between the universe and worlds)

Abstract form transcends and includes temporal formation and spatial form.

Dynamics—transients (arising from the void), of which some are more persistent as a result of symmetry and therefore stability, of which some effectively populate the universe in their experiential reflexivity.

Our world – and its general paradigms as dynamics

Physical—mechanism (determinism with indeterminism) and causation.

Complexity—form, emergence, and evolution – variation and selection (a case of formation).

Mind – its concept (cognition, feeling, choice) and object (‘matter – body – world’) sides – and approach from our world to the universal

Society and culture – competition, cooperation, and amplification of the power of mind, with technology of space and mind exploration.

Implications

Enlightened and effective pathways

Attitude, cognition-feeling-choice (and action and will); pleasure, pain (‘suffering’), and their address.

Sharing and negotiation

From our incompleteness, the pathway(s) will be negotiated and shared, the fortunate and strong will aid others, therapy will be available, and there may be leaders and elements of received ways, but no a priori ultimate authority.

Tradition and implications for tradition

Essence

Optional elements

Design: structure

Pathways (emphasis enlightenment in the present)

Emphasis: enlightenment, quality, immediate and ultimate as one, immanence of principles

Transformation of experience

Mind, body; emphasis beings and the immediate (here, now)

Yoga

Transformation in extension

Immersive, instrumental; emphasis: being, the way to the ultimate

Programs—emphasis: process in, for, and from the immediate

Considerations include (i) realization-here-now vs process toward the ultimate and their mesh (ii) degree of explicitness of principles of earlier material, especially the real metaphysics.

Being

Categorial emphasis: ultimate, universal in time and space, experiential being and nonbeing with ethics and meaning.

Action: sequence with timelines

Beings and community

Explicit categorial emphasis: local (here-now), home (and away), daily, short term, our world

§  Instrumental—engagement via action.

§  Immersive—yoga in practice and action.

Action—planning in dimensions of being with daily routines for home and away.

Immediate and ultimate as one – yoga

The two sides of yoga are the two sides of experience – meditative (subjective, inner, of mind, immersive) and physical (objective which also has a representation of the meditative, outer as metaphor for world and body, instrumental)

Attitude, pleasure – pain – cognition – intelligence

Becoming one’s highest self – overcoming limited self (in balance with communal morality)

And yoga has more than one aspect – practice of the disciplines of yoga, practice to action, and yoga in action including immersion

Individual and community – emphasis: beings

Realizing – sharing (co-action, the strong helping others), therapy, negotiating, leadership as guide and aid (perhaps charismatic but not authoritarian), communal mind, elements of traditions

Communal action – therapy, work and productivity (economic, political, knowledge, shared understanding of realization), relationships

Design: writing it

Pathways

Introduction

Why pathways?

Implementing the aim of the way

Aim in universal terms

Shared discovery and realization of the ultimate in, for, and from the immediate.

Aim in process terms

Realization of the ultimate in this life and beyond.

What are pathways?

Given incompleteness in being or feeling,

Definition 01.       A pathway is a way to completion in one or both of (i) experiencing of completion in the immediate (ii) a way of experience, reflection, and action toward real completion (given the developments so far, the complete is the ultimate).
