The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth,

As it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive them that trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

AA Third Step Prayer—Original Version

God, I offer myself to You—

To build with me and do as You will.

Relieve me of the bondage of self,

That I may better do Your will.

Take away my difficulties,

That victory over them may bear witness

To those I would help of Your Power,

Your love, and Your way of life.

May I do your will always.

AA Third Step Prayer—Universal Version

Preliminary

A criticism of the idea of God is its anthropic nature: an I relates to a You. Therefore a neutral alternative has been to think: I relate to a universe that has neither feeling nor caring

We have seen however that the universe has no limits on its nature and that we do inherit that limitless nature; and it is a second anthropomorphism to think that the only great you can be the You of ancient imagination. Therefore we may think of real individual as an ‘i’ and the real universe, unknown, as a ‘you’—a ‘u’

Prayer to the universe

i offer myself to you—

to build with me and do as you will.

relieve me of the bondage of self,

that i may better do your will.

take away my difficulties,

that victory over them may bear witness

to those i would help of your power,

your love, and your way of life.

may i do your will always.

Third Step Prayer—An Adaptation

I dedicate my life to The Way of Being:
To its discovery and realization—
To live and grow in all worlds as one:

immediateultimate,
innerouter,
naturalsocial, and
incrementalsignificant.

To shed the bondage of limited self—
So that I may see The Way so clearly
That living it, even through difficulty
Is flow over force… And so to show
And share its truth, power, and care.

Seventh Step Prayer

My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good & bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you & my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here to do Your bidding.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi—11th Step prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, light.

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.

Serenity Prayer

God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, Courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if we surrender to His Will; That we may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

A Prayer to the Universe

[For modification]

We have learnt

That Being is infinite and eternal; that Its Power is without limit

That our being—our personal power, our ability to heal and create—immensely limited in our present form, is part of and has source in the Power of Being which, being eternal and limitless, has and needs no source

That where we are limited and without power, we may share in the Power of Being… that where we are broken we may heal, that where we are empty we may receive, and that where we have nothing we may give

We ask for

Acceptance of this day, of its early morning beauty, its sunset, its night

Acceptance and embrace of pain and what is repulsive but unavoidable

Knowledge of the real and the good

Moral sense and awareness so that our thoughts and actions are good—for the good of all and of ourselves

Vision that we may see opportunity and pitfall… and Strength in action

Sensitivity and Meditation that we may hear the Voice of Being—Your Voice

Illumination and direction on the path to Being, the source, the limitless, the ultimate, and the eternal

We dedicate our being to

Healing… so that we may receive and give

Reciprocity... that where we receive according to need, we may give according to ability

To living… in illumination on the path to Being, the source, the limitless and the ultimate, and the eternal
